Boosting Pre- and Post-Event Engagement

It has become so important to engage guests not only during your event, but also before and after the event is even taking place. Grabbing their attention before the event is crucial because it means that they will be ready and excited for the event itself. You want your attendees to be invested beforehand so that everyone can make the most of their time at your event. You also want to make sure to keep your attendees interested afterwards, mostly to keep them as an opportunity for the future.

It’s clear that keeping your attendees engaged before and after your event can be very beneficial, but the question then becomes “how?” There are a bunch of different methods that you can employ in order to promote your event and engage your attendees before they even step foot in your venue. Here are just a few:

  1. Social Media - This one seems obvious, but it is often not utilized as effectively as it could be. Social media is a great platform for you to get your attendees excited about your event beforehand, and keep them interested afterwards. Use a catchy hashtag for your event, and put it right into your app. Tweet links to your event’s website and app store pages.  Create an account specifically for your event and interact with your followers. Using social media in a way that builds hype for your event will not only interest your attendees, but it will make them actually excited for your event. Not to mention that all of this publicity is great for getting more people to register for your event.
  2. Event Webpage - Your event’s website should be engaging, exciting, but also informative. Make sure that you have a separate page on your company’s website for your event. That way, you stress its importance while also gaining a link to send out with only relevant information. This can also be used as a space for you to post important information from the event, so it can be referenced afterwards by your attendees.
  3. Mail (Electronic or Snail) - Everybody likes getting fun mail/emails, so why not give your guests some attention, and get them excited for your event. Make sure to include a download link or QR Code to your event’s app, as well as some basic information (what to bring/wear) that will get your attendees excited to start planning their time at your event.
  4. Event’s Mobile App - This is one of the most important sources for engagement before, during, and after your event. When done correctly, you can use your event’s app to reach out to its users whenever you want with whatever updates you might have. This keeps attendees in the loop and connected to your event well before and after it takes place. Your app provides invaluable information to its users about your event’s exhibitors, sessions, speakers, and other attendees that can be incredibly useful at any time surrounding your event. This is why you have to be sure that your mobile app vendor is able to accommodate these requests with features like live updating, complete directories, networking abilities, and social media integration, among others.

As attendee engagement is becoming more and more important at events, it becomes more and more important to give attendees access to event content long before and after the event itself. These tactics (especially utilizing your event’s mobile app) are easy and effective techniques to keep your attendees involved with your event.
