I made an App WITHOUT touching the Command line

Posted by:

Ok, I’ll come out and say it, I don’t know how to code and I probably never will. I’ve tried to code in past years and I can tell you, it isn’t easy. When I started to intern at TapWalk, I had some doubts of my performance on creating an app. When I first opened the app creator for TapWalk however, I knew that their definition of app development is different from the status quo. Once the fellow Interns and I started to create an app, I started to realize that this app creator is a tool that I could actually see other people using. I mean not just techies, but actual (real) people. From the design to the ease of use of the creator, I can definitely see it being used by not only large venues, but by smaller events as well.

It also amazed me by how many features were actually present in the TapWalk app creator. Popular features such as QR scanning and the ability to tie in social networks were just a few of the cool features that I never expected to be implemented, especially in a mapping app. It only took a couple of clicks to add them to our app. I can see this come in handy for the many venues, events and festivals that could use TapWalk’s services. Once we hit the publish button, the app was up instantaneously onto the iPhone and Android TapWalk apps, as well as on the mobile web. Speaking of their apps, I was quite surprised by TapWalk having an Android app. I’m glad they realize the growth Android has had in the past  and I believe it will benefit the company as a whole in the future.

I could say, if y’all couldn’t realize it already, that my internship at TapWalk isn’t what I’ve expected it to be. I never imagined that making mobile apps would be this easy. I must say that when we finally completed the app (in one day, which must be some type of record)for the art drive I felt quite accomplished of finishing my first mobile app. No code required. This achievement I believe is something truly revolutionary, and is something this industry has never seen before. I look forward to continuing my internship here and I look forward to seeing other people’s reactions to TapWalk’s product. I have no doubt in my mind that they will be as amazed as I was when I first went to admin.tapwalk.com, and used their mobile app platform.
